Jane's plans for the day include building "a beautiful, beautiful leaf pile."
I would like to be three, please.

Today Jane, so would I. So much to do, so little time. I too have this "pile" in front of me, but it's not lovely leaves. Never mind, this too shall pass and before we know it Jane will be grown. I hope she has a good day.
My "this too shall pass" was for MY big pile of stuff.
Before you know it does feel true from this end of my life, but you are right to be taking your time and enjoying your little ones just as you are doing.
(You ought to see big tall lanky Jeremy, almost 16!!)

Ack! Don't grow her up in one sentence!
The other night, Erin nearly brought both of us to tears as she kissed each of our sleeping beauties, saying:
"Goodnight, 3-year-old Jane."
"Goodnight, 5-year-old Henry."
"Goodnight, 1-year-old Alice."
Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that!

In a few years one sibling will hide dog poo in that pile, much like my sibs did to me.
Great post.
Or hold you down, sit on your head and pass gas on you, like mine did to me.
(In my original comment, I spelled gas with two ss's.)
