Something sad

Erin's had a miscarriage. She is healthy and feeling OK. But sad. We all are.

She's been resting as much as she can. I took today off to play with the kids.

********

We were outside this morning in the rain, not doing much of anything. Jane made a discovery in the garden.

Jane: Hey! There are tomatoes growing on this plant! I can see tomatoes!

We'd been looking every day for the last several weeks. Today, suddenly, there they were. Jane ran from plant to plant, confirming their existence on some, but not all.

Jane: Sometimes the little yellow flowers turn into tomatoes, and sometimes they don't.

Oh Dave. I know I said it on Facebook but I am so sorry for your loss. I understand all of the excitement and wonder that comes as soon as you find out you are expecting! I am certain that you are a strong family and will get through this together...I can sort of understand your feelings as I had an early miscarriage back in January. Sadness is really the only way to describe it. Take care of your lovely wife, beautiful children and yourself of course!!

  7. I do wish that by saying "we share your sadness" that it meant we are taking some of yours to carry. However, it doesn't work that way; I well know. But I do share your sadness, and send all the loving thoughts I can muster your way, to Erin & You & the kids.

I've been following your blog since Jenna mentioned it in her bouquet blog and enjoy it immensely.

Your kids seem to be very insightful, wonderful wee people. Me thinks you and Erin are doing a fabulous job as parents!
