Jane takes a tentative step into the kitchen.

Jane: Daaaad?

Me: Mmm hmm?

Jane: How do you know if you've broken the couch?

I hesitate to answer. My eyes narrow slightly.

Me: Whyyyyy?

She turns and flees at top speed.

Jane: No reason!
