Every wedding should be a Cape Breton wedding, epilogue

We arrived home Monday from the wedding, and found this message waiting from some dear Cape Breton friends.

"well, it was so nice to see you folks on the weekend, it seems that we may have left you with a nice parting gift -- turns out the kids probably have "hand foot and mouth disease". since there's apparently no treatment for it, we're not going to bother taking the kids to the doctor, but we wanted to give you a heads-up to watch for the symptoms.

sorry!!!

hope you had a good trip back. "

Good thing we totally love these guys. It sure was nice to see them. Their son, Shep, is the second-heaviest baby I've ever thrown in the air.

As I type, Jane is still in bed with a fever and sore throat. Poor thing. Henry is being uncharacteristically nice to his sister and is reading her a book and running errands for her.

Imagine how long that will last.

Wow they really went all out with the gifts for the guests. :)
I didn't know humans could get that.

I recall one Easter our family spent a lovely time visiting with another family. Our kids and their kids played and played together. The next day we got the call--both their kids had broken out with blazing cases of chicken pox.

Then it began as all four of ours also got chicken pox--but not all at once! Oh no, that would have been too easy. Fourteen days apart, one after the other. We had chicken pox all summer it seemed.

Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!

Misty -- not hoof and mouth! Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

Hahahaha I'm glad your kids don't have hoof and mouth disease, that would truely be terrible since they aren't sheep.

I trust that you were able to catch the second-heaviest baby...

Sorry that your none-too-lightweight kids are coming down with any illness. Poor Erin. It is the summer that truly keeps on giving.

As Jane started showing her first symptoms, Erin said, "I've been afraid to say out loud that it has really been months since anybody has been sick in this house."

To which I quickly responded, "Me, too! I didn't want to jinx it!"

Everybody gets a turn in the sick house. Even sheep.

geez you guys...

And, yes, I caught him. I'm careful not to look at the expression on any mum's face when I'm tossing their children in the air.

But would hoof and mouth make for a better story? "... island kids morph to sheep ..."
