Consider him regsistered

This is Registration Day for all the kids who will attend Primary (Kindergarten, to those outside of Nova Scotia) next year at our local school. And that's exactly what we would have done with Henry today, if we were planning on sending him to school. We're not. We're homeschooling.

Gasp.

Take a minute, if you need.

We're all very excited about it, including Henry. We've been thinking about it and planning for years. And yes, we've thought of all of the things that you're "but, what about..."-ing in your heads. We'd just really like our kids to learn at their own speeds, in their own time, with us.

We were going to make a big deal out of registering him as a homeschool student today, just to join in the ceremony of it all. But, the province hasn't yet posted the 2009 registration forms online. So we let Henry pick the food for our Registration Day Supper (pancakes). Oh yes, and we made a point of telling you about it.

I can't wait to hear all about it! What an adventure for all of you.

Wow, I salute you. That's a bold move.

Prom won't suck. DJ Dad spins only the Freshest Tunes. Erin will stand in the corner pouring punch into little glass cups. That leaves two lovely ladies for Henry to dance with.

I don't see a problem.

(and thanks to everyone else who wrote helpful and supportive comments, too)

Wow! Good for you guys! Hard to believe Henry and Sarah are actually at that "school age" time of their lives....where does the time go? We have registered the girls in a fairly new private school here, the school they have been attending is getting rougher by the year....kinda scary. Hopefully they have room for them at the private school...Well, I am cheering you on for homeschooling. I wish I had the patience for it, I can't even get them to get dressed in the morning!!

If he was in a public school in Toronto he could learn how to dissassemble and clean a Glock 9mm in under a minute. Do you really want him to miss out on that?

Wonderful!

I've been in contact through mothering. I'm in the area and homeschooling too. We were going to have a whole registering, but not, celebration last year but we didn't.

Prom is way overrated anyways! *lol*

my post made me crave (and eat) a cheese and mayo sandwich.... not as good as I remembered....

Henry's favourite is cheese and mustard. A bit better than the mayonaise, but not by much.
